I Still Got It!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Rindah @ 4:46 pm

Bleh. Last week was my first week back to work and wow, I’m all ready for another vacation. My company gave us a week and a half off for the holidays. Yes, a paid holiday. I spent most of it being lazy and playing L4D2 here and there with some of my buddies.

Before returning to work and not having play TF2 for like uhh… the last time I blogged about it, a friend asks if I wanted to play. I was debating since I haven’t played in awhile. I didn’t want to be like “Nah”  and not have my friend never ask me to play in the future. After some discussion with my muffin, I decided to join. My friend was already on one of the [-Q-] clan server so I had to wait for a spot to open up to be on the same side. It was Badwater, my favorite map (I haven’t played any of the new maps since that update xD).

The game extremely well for our team. Of course I was rubbing into my muffin’s face about how awesome of a Medic I am. He only lost 1 round and that was on Red. We never lost a round after. Of course I mic spam so I bonded well with some of my teammates.

The most awesome thing during that game was when I was on Red and we just lost the rooftop. I thought my teammates were there to reclaim it. I ubersaw’d an enemy Heavy and after that I tried to run up the stairs. I bump into a “friendly” soldier and I realized I couldn’t go through him. I pulled out my Ubersaw and hacked away. The Spy just kept running away from me. I didn’t know why he just didn’t try to shoot me but eh in the end I killed him. I leave the area to find my teammates but instead I run into an ememy Soldier! I ubersaw’d him a couple times and ended up trapping him in a corner. He tried to get enough distance between us so he could rocket me in the face but he never had the opportunity. Once I trapped him in the corner, he had the opportunity to blow the both of us up. He didn’t choose that route. By now I had full uber. I didn’t have the chance to use it because this fucking Demoman charged right up to me and crit me. He killed me less than half a second before I hit my uber key. Oh man was I raging. I must stay that stupid new Demoman thing is overpowered. The ability to charge? That’s pretty fucked up. It’s like attempting to dodge a Charger from L4D2.

I stayed high in the ranks all the way through. That’s always one of the best perks of being a Medic. My hand ached a bit since I wasn’t used to playing anymore but I knew I still did a damn good job. I still had it in me. :}

Happy Holidays!

Filed under: Misc. — Rindah @ 9:55 pm

Hey, I apologise for not updating as frequently and going for so long without posting. I’ve been consumed with work, enjoying hobbies outside of a computer (OMG I KNOE) and hanging out with my boyfriend of 6 months so far. I haven’t played TF2 since the day I was hung over. I’ve tried a couple times during my lunch at work but my work machine is so overhauled, it takes at least 15 minutes to load a damn game. Left4D2 released last month and I’ve mainly been playing that. I haven’t even ventured into playing the campaigns on Advanced without Normal already serving my ass.  L4D2 has been very fun. The graphics have greatly improved and damn do some of the special Infected do some major damage. Spitter anyone?

I just wanted to drop by (on my own blog) to say hi. I should really get around to completing my Medic guide and actually playing TF2 again… till then happy holidays and stay warm. It was in the 80s today so that was a nice way to enjoy the weekend after the chilly mornings I wake up to last week.

Team Fortress 2 Trading Cards

Filed under: Misc. — Rindah @ 7:28 pm

Some of my colleagues return from Austin GDC and most people in the office know I’m basically a Valve fanatic. He tosses a pack of the TF2 trading cards and I’m like zomg. I open the pack immediately and they were just like the ones Valve featured on their TF2 blog. I unfortunately did not get the Medic in my pack. My colleague told me he passed off another pack to another colleague of ours and immediately rushed to his deck and opened his pack. Haha… and of course he had the Medic card. I traded my flamethrower card for the Medic. I offered the Scout at first but he said I hate the Scout. Lulz… who doesn’t. I left the cards at work as I am blogging from home. I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow and upload it. :>

L4D2 Shirt

Filed under: Misc. — Rindah @ 3:38 pm

Oh for shame… what happened to the love for L4D? We all love the original characters. Oh Zoey and Louis… your player death screams are the best. Anyways, my company (if ya didn’t know I work for a video game publisher) went to PAX earlier this month. I did not get to go because I was the better employee and had to keep the fort under control while my manager was out of the office and my minion was sent go instead. Ah whatever. I heard people got swine flu there anyways.

The Valve booth was only 2 booths away from ours and of course I started to fangirl and demanded my colleagues check it out for me. They did. The booth was purely for L4D2. Yes, not even a year for L4D and L4D2 was announced. I’m buying L4D2 when it comes out but it doesn’t mean I’m going to stop the hate… for now. Anyways my colleague gave me a disk box for Hello Kitty Online. It’s a pretty nice package with Hello Kitty’s giant face on it. And today I got the best swag promised to me… one of the L4D2 T-shirts. Valve L4D2 T-shirt

It’s too big for me as its a Male Medium. Come on, Valve, you got thin female fans too ya know! Anyways it’s a great shirt to have. One of my colleague’s was sporting his yesterday. I’ll just be wearing mines to sleep. :x

Okay not bad just a couple month since my last post. I honestly haven’t played Team Fortress 2 or Left4Dead recently. I lied… I think I played L4D last week and we sucked. Hahaha. Anyways, I’m here to advertise. If you haven’t seen it, please check it out – http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/70007. Meet Sheila, a melee skin for the Sniper. It’s beautiful with a traditional design and it will look great embedding this sharp axe into your enemy’s skull. I’m promoting it because one of my Steam friend’s Vane along with his awesome  buddy, Saff, designed it. Both are awesome TF2 players as well. So go ahead, click the link would you kindly? :)

Playing TF2 helps with hangover?!

On Saturday night I went out with my sister to meet up a couple of guys we met a few weeks back at Vanguard. We went to this club in Chinatown. O_o I spent some years growing up in Chinatown and frequent the area in my younger years. Seeing Chinatown at night was kind of odd and haunting. My sister also invited out a few of coworkers. I didn’t have to buy any drinks that night but I only had 2. One being a Tokyo Tea which really fucked me up. I went dancing right afterwards and got a bit sick. Basically I was slightly hung over the next day.

On Sunday my friend, komugi, asked me to play TF2 with him. I’ve declined a few times previously and to prevent him from not inviting me in the future I joined him even though I was still feeling a bit queasy. I joined him on 2Fort on the DiG server. I started with Engineer but after like 15 minutes I got really bored of standing around and switched to Medic. And that’s where the fun began.

Everybody on the server was very nice and we all chatted while playing. It really took my mind off of my queasy stomach. We did really well together on Red Team. There were so many snipers running around with the Huntsman. It was really neat because it brought Sniper to closer range combat. It was bad for me cause I had almost nobody to uber. XD Of course we still had Snipers perched on the balcony. I pushed as often as I could with uber storming into the Blue base. I played 2 rounds of CTF with us winning both games.  I got the last cap for us on the 2nd round after I finally make it into the Blue Intel after pushing with uber like the 8th time. I have some screenshots of the scoreboard (which I will post later cause they are at home). At one point I had 22 deaths and 55 assists. TF2 helped me forget I was so fucked up from the previous night. Come to think of it… it makes me wanna play some more again. :)

Sniper Update

So I just read about the Sniper Update on http://www.teamfortress.com/sniperupdate/ and it is some hilarious business! The Huntsman? Oh this appease me greatly as I have been practicing archery at the local range here. I look forward to playing Sniper when this update is available. Fuck the Scout… Sniper is going to be epic. This weapon is almost as awesome as the Ubersaw. We won’t know how constructive it will be on the field until its out. Prepare for the whining from people who simply can’t appreciate a goram game. ;x

My Memorable Moments 2008

Filed under: Games — Rindah @ 10:24 pm

It’s officially over 1 years since I’ve played Team Fortress 2. My passion, my addiction. I’ve noted a couple of noteworthy moments in 2008. Feel free to comment more if I wasn’t arrogrant enough necessary.

Here goes!

1. 6 Invunerability Ubercharges in 1 lifetime earned on a Pub game.
2. Not know what ‘ping’ was and playing on a server which was based in the UK. Oops.
3. Meeting Friends one can’t play TF2 without. <3
4. Achieving First Do No Harm and Chief of Staff Medic Achievements.
5. Acheving an almsot 3:1 Kill Assist/Death ratio playing on Pub games.
6. Cockblocking an ubered enemy Soldier by ubering a friendly Engineer whose setup was going to be destroyed.
7. Renaming lunch time to TF2 Tiem.
8. Having a no profanity rule implemented in the office due to TF2 Tiem outbursts.
9. Being complimented as a great Medic. (And being called a out on how to play TF2 and proving them wrong)
10. Playing Medic making all the difference in winning or losing.

Best use of Uber ever!

Filed under: Games — Rindah @ 11:57 pm

Ever since Left 4 Dead (L4D) came out, I haven’t been playing TF2 too much during my lunch (I still need to write about my general experience playing L4D). About a week after Engineer upgradeable buildings, Spy rechargeble cloak, Demoman sticky nerf, and the Medic bubble changes updates, I logged onto [-Q-] Badwater Basin 24/7 server during lunch. Haven’t played in awhile, I was a bit more paranoid. I also unfortunately go onto a horrible team. Luckily, the server reset the map and I got on to a better team. Before the map reseted, somebody told me I was a horrible Medic. I laughed to myself.

Of course we ass raped the other team on both Defense and Offense rounds. They were so poorly organized, I assist butt raped them all. I mean seriously… kill the Medic that is pushing all the ubercharges. That would be the smart thing to do.

So anyways, I was playing my last round on Defense before lunch was over. I was hanging out with the Engineer who built his set up to the right side. I was paranoid! I never liked the beginning part of Badwater. It is like asking to be sniped. I’m chilling, over-healing the Engineer when I see an enemy Soldier come around the corner. I attempted to run to avoid the splash damage of his rockets and waiting for the sentry to take him out. However, he got ubered! An enemy Soldier that close only means instant death and destruction of the setup. Having full uber, I ubered the Engineer and stood between the sentry gun and the enemy Soldier. Bwahaha… he couldn’t shoot at the sentry. I could tell he was pretty confused. He tried to go around me but I still blocked him. The sentry eventually finished him off. The Engineer who spoke nothing the whole time we were playing said to me – “That was the best use of uber ever” or something along those lines.

Had to work for this one!

Filed under: Games — Rindah @ 3:03 pm

I love Badwater Basin for the amount of ownage one can dish out. Well, as a Medic, I assist in the ownage. Today for lunch I joined my Steam friend, MrBeanz, on [-Q-] 24/7 Badwater Basin. You know just the usual– serving out ubers, giving out health boost, and raking in the kill assists. After a round on Red and a round on Blu, the server reloads. MrBeanz, Cebi, and I joined Red. I decided to go Engineer because I haven’t played in awhile. MrBeanz was disappointed but ah wells! Was hoping to hold Blu back if we could with the first line of sentries and when I died, I’d build mines on the roof. Unfortunately, that plan did not work out and the Engineers started to build around C. I said “Screw it, I’m switching back to Medic.” And headed back to the respawn to change classes. MrBeanz was glad to have me as his hump buddy.

So there we are, all of Red team spread out over point C. Two sentries were up defending the point. I really thought we would be able to hold them off there but it was not looking good with all the ‘nade, sticky, and rocket spam all over the place. With 3 or 4 Medics on the team we were serving out ubers like the hot commodity it is. I was constantly building uber with our great team. They were very offensive in a defensive way– pushing out making sure Blu does not get too close to us. I was rushing out with MrBeanz uber after uber to cause chaos among Blu. I was not paying attention to anything else but keeping my teammates alive and kept the ubers coming.

Blu eventually capped C which I had no fucking idea how with all of us there. All the sentries were down but we still held them back. With our Engineers God knows where (I was thinking they were building back), we still had a mob of Red with all the Medics around healing and preventing Blu from pushing the cart further than the cap. Unfortunately they managed to push the cart closer and closer to the ramp. I eventually got taken out by a ‘nade. To my surprise however, I set a new record for my Medic! Six invulnerability ubercharges in 1 life time!

I was really excited and proud of myself! [Goes on ego trip wee~] I continued to play Medic but Blu team was able to keep pushing the cart. They rushed the final cap area with Pyros and Demomen. Losing while defending was not something I had experienced in awhile on Badwater and I did not want to lose. I went on a suicidal healing spree, grabbing and healing anybody I could while they tried to defend. Some how I managed to do that decently…well, before I die from being on fire. Trying to figure out why we were having trouble defending, I realized we had no Engineers! The 4-5 Engineers we had in the beginning gave up! I was pissed. I know very well a key to a good defense is a lovely cute sentry setup. I knew we were not going to last on defense if we did not have at least one sentry up. So I switched back to Engineer. I came out of the respawn angry telling people do not play Engineer if you do not know how or do not play Engineer only to change class later because it is too hard! My first attempt to set up right across from the respawn failed. I was owned by a Demoman and a Pyro. My second attempt was much better after my team cleared the courtyard. I threw down my sentry and was about to loot the 200 metal/amo pack when MrBeanz looted it. I know he saw me by the time he looted it. He was about to get an earful and he did. I only had an L2 sentry but it was already helping as the payload was tittering close to the cap. An uber Demoman rushes in and I’m thinking I’m fucked. Somehow he totally misses and I thought I was safe! I go running back to my sentry (it was on fire) to fix it and BOOM! I exploded. Fifteen seconds till respawn. My sentry had half life and three-forth the amo. It was neat spectating my own sentry gun watching it shoot at everything that walks by. While waiting to respawn, I was crying for somebody to fix my sentry. I saw it go all the way to NO HEALTH but seconds before I spawned, I saw its health go up. Somebody heard my cries. He helped me upgrade my sentry and I assisted him with his. Blu was not going to win at that point. We had our defense and the cart started to roll back. We got this. Saved from disaster, Red wins the game. MrBeanz and I are MVP.

This was definitely the most intense game I have played in a long time. I realize I’ve really improved as a player. And public servers are much more enjoyable as it allows room for spontaneity and surprises even with an annoying Engineer tele grief.

Before I close this out, I have one more small story to tell. When we switched to Blu after that game, as we attempted cap B, one of my teammates, a soldier, calls out for a Medic to assist him. He was by our second respawn before the doors were made available. I was thinking well alright, I’ll go assist him. I was worried about getting sniped. I say to him if I die, it is all your fault. So I go running towards him bouncing up and down to avoid being headshotted, I’m getting shot at by an L2 sentry! Some how the sentry was distracted and I got up the stairs to assist the soldier. I’m yelling at him telling him he’s lucky I managed to make it across. He failed to note that there was a sentry keeping him pinned. He laughed and said to me now you see why I’m stuck. I was close to uber so once I got it we jumped out to take out that sentry and everything else in our way.

Oh and of course we won as Blu. :)
