For PC gamers, if you want the DLC, it would cost you 400 Microsoft points. It didn’t mention it would be for Steam so I may be getting ahead of myself here but WHAT THE FUCK? Why would I buy Microsoft points for a DLC? Why can’t I pay with regular $$ as I’m a Steam user? I’m assuming I don’t just buy 400 points; it would come in a set amount. What would I do with the other points? This whole LIVE gamer tag for Windows is just lame. For people who own Microsoft points for the DRM’d games that annoy the fuck out of you, grats. But this gamer isn’t going to buy any stupid points. This just adds to my hatred for DRM. I am never buy a non-Valve game ever again that requires Window LIVE to verify my purchase is legit.

Original Teasers & Trailers
While playing the game, I felt like I was misled with some of the trailers from what the game actually was. I understand the storyline wasn’t presented but I expected something totally different. May be I shouldn’t have expected anything at all.

Game Play
The key controls of the game was a bit frustrating. Not only did they change the keys from the original game, they added a billion more other thingso you could d thus needing more keys. I realized while changing some of the default keys, it prevented you from doing certain things like “remote” hack. Remote hack will only work with the default keys. I realized this after I changed the keys to how I prefer it.

What you could do in Bioshock 2 was almost endless with the different key combinations. I preferred zapping my splices and then charging them with my Drill. Instant kill.

One thing I did find silly with the key controls was the default key for playing a tape recording. It was L and originally it was T. With T like in the original game, you could reach it with your left hand which was already on WASD. With L I had to take my hand off my mouse and hit it to hear the tape. I saw my boyfriend do the same.

Storyline
I felt the trailers and teasers set up something great for Bioshock 2 storyline. I, unfortunately, was not impressed with the story. I hate to constantly compare to its predecessor but the game felt short. I didn’t understand why things were happening the way they were. I didn’t know why Sinclair (the man who guides you through the entire story) was even talking to you. Tenenbaum only helps you in the first 2 hours of the game or so. She disappears after introducing Sinclair. I don’t hate it but it wasn’t as exciting. Anti-climatic is how I described it. The storyline was straight-forward, if not repetitive. Some tasks like adopting Little Sisters was just overkill.

I can safely assume there are alternative endings but I don’t want to play the game to see what it is. I can safely assume what the endings are but if you haven’t played the original. You may not know.

Big Sisters
Now I still don’t understand the role of the Big Sister. How she came to be, why she came to be, was never explained. Teasers portrayed her as a boss, but she is nothing more than a mini-boss, multiple mini-bosses. Much tougher than billions of Big Daddys you fight but I felt those roles were insignificant and did not add to the story. If you really think about it, you were killing girls in those suits.

The End
The end of the game… was simply the end. You knew it was near but I got had the itching feeling or fear it would drag me around longer. It didn’t really do that. There was nothing epic about the end. Again as I described it. The end… was simply the end. If you’re looking for a good fight, you’re only going to get that out of the Big Sisters.




I don’t think the game play is not worth the price tag. If you can get the game for a good deal go for it. Did I mention DRM sucks? Again, I still enjoyed the game but I think the story could have been fleshed out better and a less… circular game play.

Anyways, I ran into a couple of peeves as I was trying to launch the game. First it asked me to enter a serial, which made me go what the fuck. I pre-ordered this game off Steam and I didn’t need to validate with the original Bioshock. Luckily with a help of Google, I found a post on the 2K forums. To find your serial you need to right-click Bioshock 2 in My Games in Steam and select view game CD key.  That will prompt you a window with the key you need to authenticate. I’m not sure if all games you buy off Steam does this but quite frankly its a bit annoying due to the lack of directions. I just don’t know because all the games I own are Valve games. :T

My second peeve comes from all the original keys being changed from the first one. May be I was just peeved because I just finished the first one last night and the key bindings are still fresh in my mind. Whatever. I was quite happy with the previous settings along with my modifications.

Third peeve came from it asking me to make a gamer LIVE tag when I launched the game. It wouldn’t let me play otherwise. Apparently, I couldn’t use my many Windows Live accounts and had to make a new one. I managed to ignore it all and start my game. I watched the intro and walked around a bit. I realized when I wanted to quick save I couldn’t because I didn’t log into my gamer LIVE account. Le fucked? Thank goodness I didn’t go too far.

I have a fatty flash drive stick with me here so I’ll be copying the files for me to use at home. Yes, its going to be an unproductive evening for me and possibly nightmares.

Before returning to work and not having play TF2 for like uhh… the last time I blogged about it, a friend asks if I wanted to play. I was debating since I haven’t played in awhile. I didn’t want to be like “Nah”  and not have my friend never ask me to play in the future. After some discussion with my muffin, I decided to join. My friend was already on one of the [-Q-] clan server so I had to wait for a spot to open up to be on the same side. It was Badwater, my favorite map (I haven’t played any of the new maps since that update xD).

The game extremely well for our team. Of course I was rubbing into my muffin’s face about how awesome of a Medic I am. He only lost 1 round and that was on Red. We never lost a round after. Of course I mic spam so I bonded well with some of my teammates.

The most awesome thing during that game was when I was on Red and we just lost the rooftop. I thought my teammates were there to reclaim it. I ubersaw’d an enemy Heavy and after that I tried to run up the stairs. I bump into a “friendly” soldier and I realized I couldn’t go through him. I pulled out my Ubersaw and hacked away. The Spy just kept running away from me. I didn’t know why he just didn’t try to shoot me but eh in the end I killed him. I leave the area to find my teammates but instead I run into an ememy Soldier! I ubersaw’d him a couple times and ended up trapping him in a corner. He tried to get enough distance between us so he could rocket me in the face but he never had the opportunity. Once I trapped him in the corner, he had the opportunity to blow the both of us up. He didn’t choose that route. By now I had full uber. I didn’t have the chance to use it because this fucking Demoman charged right up to me and crit me. He killed me less than half a second before I hit my uber key. Oh man was I raging. I must stay that stupid new Demoman thing is overpowered. The ability to charge? That’s pretty fucked up. It’s like attempting to dodge a Charger from L4D2.

I stayed high in the ranks all the way through. That’s always one of the best perks of being a Medic. My hand ached a bit since I wasn’t used to playing anymore but I knew I still did a damn good job. I still had it in me. :}

I just wanted to drop by (on my own blog) to say hi. I should really get around to completing my Medic guide and actually playing TF2 again… till then happy holidays and stay warm. It was in the 80s today so that was a nice way to enjoy the weekend after the chilly mornings I wake up to last week.

The Valve booth was only 2 booths away from ours and of course I started to fangirl and demanded my colleagues check it out for me. They did. The booth was purely for L4D2. Yes, not even a year for L4D and L4D2 was announced. I’m buying L4D2 when it comes out but it doesn’t mean I’m going to stop the hate… for now. Anyways my colleague gave me a disk box for Hello Kitty Online. It’s a pretty nice package with Hello Kitty’s giant face on it. And today I got the best swag promised to me… one of the L4D2 T-shirts.

It’s too big for me as its a Male Medium. Come on, Valve, you got thin female fans too ya know! Anyways it’s a great shirt to have. One of my colleague’s was sporting his yesterday. I’ll just be wearing mines to sleep.

On Sunday my friend, komugi, asked me to play TF2 with him. I’ve declined a few times previously and to prevent him from not inviting me in the future I joined him even though I was still feeling a bit queasy. I joined him on 2Fort on the DiG server. I started with Engineer but after like 15 minutes I got really bored of standing around and switched to Medic. And that’s where the fun began.

Everybody on the server was very nice and we all chatted while playing. It really took my mind off of my queasy stomach. We did really well together on Red Team. There were so many snipers running around with the Huntsman. It was really neat because it brought Sniper to closer range combat. It was bad for me cause I had almost nobody to uber. XD Of course we still had Snipers perched on the balcony. I pushed as often as I could with uber storming into the Blue base. I played 2 rounds of CTF with us winning both games.  I got the last cap for us on the 2nd round after I finally make it into the Blue Intel after pushing with uber like the 8th time. I have some screenshots of the scoreboard (which I will post later cause they are at home). At one point I had 22 deaths and 55 assists. TF2 helped me forget I was so fucked up from the previous night. Come to think of it… it makes me wanna play some more again.
